VDL AEC Maritime receives substantial order from Anangel Maritime in Greece

2 August 2018

One of the largest ship-owners of Greece, Anangel Maritime, has placed a significant order for scrubbers with VDL AEC Maritime. The company owns separately-managed fleets of large tankers, large dry bulk carriers and liquefied natural gas carriers.

The owner of Anangel Maritime, Mr. John Angelicoussis, has previously reported that the choice for a scrubber makes economic sense. Scrubber systems offer great financial advantage for ship-owners compared to the ones who will need to use low sulphur fuel oil which is much more expensive.

Anangel Maritime is one of many shipping companies to use the scrubber solution provided by VDL AEC Maritime. The most important advantage of the scrubber from VDL AEC is the simple design with no moving parts. The scrubber tower is made from high quality material, requires low maintenance and has a low backpressure. This significantly reduces operational costs.

The significant order  is one of more to follow for Anangel Maritime and Maran Tankers, who work closely together.

Testimonial

“We were intrigued by the simplicity of the AEC scrubbing system. Their technology works without filters. There is no pollution on the deck, no filters to clean and no maintenance. After testing the AEC closed loop scrubber on the Schleswig-Holstein we were so convinced, we ordered scrubbing systems for three more vessels.”

Fini Alsted Hansen, Technical Superintendent Fleet Management at Scandlines.
